clutch cable driving me nuts!!
clutch cable driving me nuts!!
I installed a set of wild chubby apes on my deluxe,bought the burly cable kit,the clutch cable was hard to pull and not smooth,called burly for another one,installed it sat. its even worse,pulled the derby cover off adjusted the clutch,the cable,oiled the crap out of it ,no kinks in the cable,the lever is smooth,cant figure it out!,,should i just scrap the burly kit and get stainless?,,any ideas?

I had the same problem... after searching on here I discovered it's common with the Burly clutch cable.
I disconnected the cable from the lever and did the "oil in a bag" thing until oil ran out of the cable adjuster... at the time it didn't really help.. so I just rode it anyway.. and yes, it was a pita... after about a month of riding it smoothed up... now it's better, still not smooth as the stock cable though...

Magnum or La Choppers cables are the way to go. I dislike the burly kits. The LA Choppers black vinyl cable kit is in the same price range as the Burly kit. Pm or email em for more info Drew@Drvtwin.com
