Just bought 94 softail springer with 47,000 and have put 300 miles on it and belt is wearing on outside from the center in toward wheel , rubbing the small ribs down flat ??
Picture would be real helpful. Can you post a couple like the pictures below? That way we'd get a much better idea of what's going on. I still don't know if I can help, but if I can't, maybe somebody else can.
Is the rearend slammed??? When I was running progressive all the way down my primary would scrape the top of the belt right around the jackshaft... Now that I'm running air ride and when I slammed it same thing since we have a bigger dia rear pulley then the 6 spd bikes. I went to a 29T andrews trans pulley and it now clears the primary even when it's slammed.
If it's lowered all the way down look at where your belt goes into the primary if thats where it's rubbing you can adjust the shocks and bring it up a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch and you should clear.
I had the belt rubbing on my old 1993 Springer. It had a 140 on it when I bought. I had to go the next size smaller for the belt not to rub. It was lowered and the shocks were cranked down.

Looking at the bright side. I'd have to say that your rim is running true!
