Changing cables
I have a 99 Fatboy and was thinking of changing my bars to some higher then I have to make it easier to ride with my back. I never changed any cables on a Harley in all the years I been riding. What I like to to know is it something that I can do or do I have to let someone else that knows how to do it.
Can anyone tell if there is a book out there that explains all this in detail plus with some pix or am I way off base.
thanks for any help.

Get yourself a factory service manual specific your bike and you'll be fine. If you get in a bind you can always ask on here and somebody will surely help you out. I can give you a heads up that the gas tank will have to be unbolted and lifted or removed to get access to the throttle/idle cables and your exhaust will more than likely have to be removed to access the side of the transmission where the clutch cable hooks up. Neither of these are "hard" to do but ,should be taken in to account when thinking about the project. I personallly enjoy the satisfaction of working on my bike and completing projects like this instead of spending my hard earned money on letting a shop do it.
AMEN, and wondering how much care they put into it. Just sayin.
I know what you guys mean by doing it your self. I like to do as much as I can my self as long as I know how to do it. lol
I've never used the Clymer manuals. From what I hear they're OK, just not as detailed for individual models though.
thanks again for all the info..
stay safe in the wind
