I use my air compressor to blow out the leftover oil. Works great and no mess. I cut the top corner off a 5 liter bottle of oil in an L shape but leave the top part on to catch the oil blowing out of the drain hole. You could use your shop vac on blow too as long as the filter inside is good and not blowing crap into the crankcase.

Are you talking about blowing air into the oil tank? No offense but, I would NEVER, EVER get a shop vac, in blow mode, anywhere near my bike, especially an opening into the engine like the oil tank. Blow dust into the engine?? No thanks, if that's what you meant.

I used that for quite a few years before I broke down and bought a jack. I worked every time.

So apparently you didn't read the whole post. You know, the part where I wrote if it's blowing dust not to do it. Or the part where I wrote air compressor.

Or for $30 more you can get a motorcycle lift if you are doing more mods on the bike.
Beats getting your buddies to help lift it up on blocks! lol

Also a good thing to get if you are changing your oil is one of these.
If you are real particular about your oil, you should check out the "Oil Scavenger".
I use it, and it is amazing how much old crappy oil is left behind on a normal oil change without it.

Check it out:

Jester, now that I ordered the wheel chock, just one more question. I know you just run the bike onto the chock, but does it back off the chock as easy as it goes on? Thanks!

Been using the wooden lift for about 8 years now. I prefer it over my hydraulic lift from harbour frieght.

Just slide it under and lift. Most of my bike have less than 4" of ground clearance and using the harbour freight lift is a pain in the ***.

Ok, the 2002 Fatboy will be delivered tomorrow and I want to change all 3 fluids before winter storage.

I looked thru the service manual and they do a good job explaining how to do everything, but they don't mention anything about tools. Can you guys tell me what size wrenches, allen wrenches, and torx wrenches I need for the 3 fluid changes?

Also, the service manual really pushes Harley oils and I like Amsoil. They mention using an oil made for diesel engines. Which Amsoil oils do you guys use in the engine, transmission, and primary. I'll be using a 20-50w in the engine. Thanks!

Btw, just checked Amsoil website and if I understand it correctly, they recommend using their SAE 20W-50 (MCV) oil in all 3 areas (engine, transmission and primary). Does this sound right to you guys?

Cool oil + trany change

Ok, I have posted this before, but this has worked for me for the last 3 Big Twins, but that being said - Use what makes you feel good.
