Default FX Springer front wheel is offset?

I think I read here someone commented that the front wheel wasn't centered between the forks. I'm looking at mine and I think it does look a smidge closer to the brake side but I'm not sure. It doesn't effect driveability as far as I can tell but the reference made me curious.

Is there really an offset? If so, has it always been there? Is there a logical reason why they didn't adjust the spacers to center the wheel?

...And I'm looking at my fender mounts and it is obvious that the wheel is closer to the brake side.

Odd. Oh well. The wheels still go 'round so game on I guess.
