Well Motown it's like this. I may be in a little different situation then some. I will never get married again so that is one huge savings right there! I raised my kids alone and they are now older. I have a very good paying and after the kids, my bike is my one major toy so I figure "what the hell"! I want to retire in 4 or 5 years so I want and have to have most of everything done by then, if that is ever possible, because I will be on a fixed income then. A good one but still.....it's fixed. I am near done with the Deluxe and really toying with the idea of a SG and doing my thing on that so it too is done by then. Yes, you are also right in this.......pennies on the dollar!
In my eye and HO, it just depends on the bike... some models look awesome fully chromed (Deluxe), some look pretty sharp blacked out, but in the end it's all in the eyes of the owner. My sweet wife swears my Lux needs nothing done because it's gorgeous (in her eyes), but she doesn't understand the affliction of which I am quickly succumbing to, Chrome Whoreism!
My first large dose is on order and I'm starting with the Burlys and all chromed switch covers, controls, etc, but I think I'm going to leave the switches black for some contrast, at least until I put it together and see.

I predict you will take it all apart again and add the switch covers...lol
