Hey all, I just bought a Deluxe and had an odd experience with a mysteriously exploding passing lamp. The other day I was admiring my new ride and decided to turn the ignition key to on after slipping on some visor style trim rings to the turn signals. No more than two minutes went by and as I turned away to speak to a friend......KAPOW! My right side passing lamp literally explodes shooting glass more then 10ft across the floor. The metal filament of the bulb is still completely intact, the glass inside the lamp is completely white and shattered like an old camera flash bulb but with a big hole and I've got scratches all over my front fender and glass embedded into it.
I feel lucky that my dealer actually believes me that I never touched it prior and is going to warranty the light and a new fender. Though they did install chrome forks before delivery I'm not pointing fingers I've asked what would cause such a thing.......Not to just blow out but to literally blow up..!?
The service guys at my dealer said the exact same thing happened on my lightbar when I had the bike in to replace the broken fork lock (under warranty). They described it exactly like that - the passing light just exploded. Weird.
