10K service question
I called 2 dealers for prices and the labor hours involved. Dealer A wants $700 for 6.5 hours of work and Dealer B wants $460 for 4.5 hours of work.
Not thrilled with either rate but my question is this for those of you who have had a dealer provide this service: Do dealers perform different services for the 10K to warrant a 2 hour difference? I am in the service business and our dealers have standard labor times (not neessarily rates).
Are there services within the 10K that I need to insist on being done that one dealer may or may not be offering? My next move is to get the checklist from the dealers but would like your feedback so I can ask more intelligent questions when I do. THANKS
I don't know why some dealers post there prices so high like this in here. Our dealer charged me $260 for my 10k service.......back in 08.
Don't look at the wall, our dealers wall say's $480, but when I picked her up it was $260.
ON the last 3services I've paid $160 cause I've done the oils my-self...
Heres how to do the oils... scroll down after loading.

Ur manual will assist U how to do them even more.....
At 10k U will prob need a new rear tire and the rear brakes will be 2/3 or so worn out. so they may be including those items/

I'm not paying someone $75-85 an hour to change my oil and check things I can do myself. And at least I know for a fact it was done.
You can buy a service manual for $60 or less. And if there's something you're not real comfortable doing yourself pay for it alacart. Gotta be alot less expensive than doing it as a package deal.
Only maintenance item I ever paid for was the steering head adjustment. $75. And I'm not even sure they even did anything to the bike.
Then you have the question of whether you need to have this 10,000 mile maintenance done anyway. If the bike is running fine, do you really need to drop $700 for someone to "check it out".
