Default Gas tanks

I am looking to paint my bike sometime in the future. In doing so I want another set of tins to paint so I can keep my stock tins, they are just so nice I don't want to lose them! In any case, I have the fuel injected 2006 Deluxe. I found a guy who has a tank I can get for 150.00 but it came off of his bike but his was a 2006 carberated Deluxe. Is there a differance between the 2 tanks? I know on a differant project way back when the tanks were NOT the same, it had to do with pressure or something. So, are the 2 tanks the same or not? a tank off of a carb bike and a tank off of a EFI bike? Thanks for any input.

Not a 100% sure but remember to have read somewhere on here that an 04-06 carbed tank should fit for a 2006 FI bike, so looks like you are good to go.

====

Just checked, the part numbers of a fuel tank for a 06 carb and 06 EFI bike are the same - 61625-01D. And at $150 for his tank you can't go wrong! A new one in primer will set you back around $800 list, and there are a couple listed on ebay for around $399.

I KNOW!!! Ain't that something? The guy started out at 250.00 and I got him down to 150.00. I then looked around, called the dealer and found out what they run and you are right. It was about $800 primered and $1,500 painted to match the bike! I told him after I looked around and asked if he was sure on the price, I told him what they run. I even told him I would give him his asking price of 250.00 but he said no, a deal was a deal!! So, now that I know they are the same I go friday when I get paid to pick it up. He told me it was just sitting around collecting dust and he would like to see it go to good use. It is MINT condition, CHERRY! He loved my bike and we just sat there and shot the crap for awhile. He was a pretty cool old Dude to be honest. Anyway, thanks for looking and for the info Dude, I appreciate the input. Now I just have to figure out what I want to do for fenders, I don't want stock. The stock tank is all I wanted to use. I will keep my eyes peeled and who knows, I might get lucky again! Any suggestions on fenders anybody?

I would have thought that the petcocks were different. Shows how much I know. (admittedly, very little)

Hmmm, you guys sure? I am on nights and was sleeping today so I couldn't or didn't call the dealer. I know I got a great deal but not if it won't work. I guess I could always resell it. I better just set my alarm tomorrow to make sure I am up before the dealer does close and ask them for sure. Thanks guys for the input.

Yeah, I'm sure. The tanks for carb and EFI were same from 04 to 06.
