Generally,..........at some point i believe your trail degree/angle will change if you don't drop both ends Equally.I dont believe it gets too bad with a small drop though ? anybody??? ill be lowering also and would like some specifics from anybody who REALLY knows. i know on my old Sporty i was 1 in. back 1/2 inch front just bumping the Tree down with no major effects, Softail?? im also....wondering ......
I had it on my bike in less than 30 minutes! It is a great kit and rides awesome. Just by design it is WAY more trustworthy than the common lowering bolts all over eBay. As with any other lowering kit, you will want to stiffen up your shocks once these are installed.
I had the lowering bolts installed on my 2010 bones no issues at all, easy install the ride suffered a lil though.
If you can afford it, go with Air Ride ShotGun Shocks.
Some pics of mine with Air installed.

Dropping the back wil effectively increase your rake angle and increase the trail. The increased trail will theoretically make the bike handle a little slower/be more stable in a straight line. In practice you probably won't notice much except the decreased lean angle and a greater tendency to bottom out on the bumps/dips/potholes.
I dropped the rear of my Bones 2" with Arlen Ness bolts. Rides great! Don't even notice a difference on the highway. In town...you have to be careful of potholes and significant bumps. I will say, I've never experienced fatigue or any discomfort from doing the mod. I used to say I'd upgrade to air-ride eventually. But, the bolts were only $70, maybe less. And, I've been so happy with the results, I haven't seen a need to upgrade.
Mine is slammed 2 " maybe even 21/4" I have about 11000 no issues. You will loose some comfort and it will stiffen up the ride. It's worth it though, because the bones looks sweet slammed.
