Default turning signal problem question

I have a 99 Fatboy my left front turning signal stays on an the back is off turn it on they both blink just can't figure it out. Right side works fine.
Any ideas sure would be helpful. Could it be a bulb or the signal canceller.

Not quite the same, but I had the L rear stay on solid all the time and the front L worked correctly. In my case, the wire to the L rear blinker had come loose in the wiring harness plug. It was in the plug but pulled right out, wasn't making a good connection. The blades on the amp pin were pushed down. I pulled the amp pin out of the plug, bent the pins out, reinserted the amp pin into the plug - problem solved.
Might not be your problem, but thought I'd throw that out there.

A little confused are you talking about wirer harness or signal harness or the canceller.

Check your connectors for corrosion (front under the tank and rear under fender extension) You could also check ground in headlamp.
Good luck

Sorry. The wires coming from turn signals ( and brake light, etc ) will eventually all come together in a big *** plug connector somewhere on your bike. In my case, the wire from the left rear turn signal was not seated well in the wiring harness plug.

OK will try and trace thing down. I tried a spare left side controls and pluged that in and still same problem. I changed bars and wiring and everything is the same as old. Maybe like you said a wire from the turn signal could have come lose. The stange thing is if I hit the button it blinks but stays on.

That sounds very similar to my issue, it was a while back so bit foggy on the fine detail. Trace the wires and give them a wiggle as go down the path. Again, for me, I traced the wire back to the harness plug and pushed the wire and the blinker started working correctly - holy ****. Then I pulled the wire and it came right out of the harness plug easy as can be, which is bad. Fixed the barbs on the amp pin, reinserted it into the plug, no more problem.
Good luck.

Also check where your wires go through the hole in the rear fender. It mite have rubbed down to the copper and be shorting there. This is under the seat. But I would start with the bulb for sure.

Pop the covers, remove the bulb and make sure contacts look good at bottom of socket. Apply a dab of dialectical grease to bottom of bulb and film on base and replace. You just have a bad connection.
