That would be nice. But I don't think a 120R will go into an '01 frame.

At work we use Belzona rather than JB weld---I would describe it as "jb weld on steroids".
The machinery & parts I have seen repaired with it has made me a believer in it
I think it is kinda pricey though

I agree. I used on a cracked block on an antique tractor. The crack was into a water jacket and it's been three years and still holding perfectly. It cost more but better than jb weld.

Forgot about Belzona. I used it to repair the area around a valve guide (inside the combustion chamber) on a Shovel's head. Great stuff!

Yep, know what you mean. If it would fit without a lot of modification, I'd already have one.

Yeah its fairly easy for them to do it. Just going to take a lot of Hrs,,,, which means a LOT of $$$$$..

Ur not the first to do it, read in here several times a Yr where others have done it.. most don't crack the cases and are lucky..

HIND sight.. that $60 manual doesn't look too much money now.

Or Sites like this one...This would have Save U a bunch...

http://www.dudeworld.com.au/HOWTO.HTML

Also, Almost anything U want to do to a Harley is on the net, U can even see a video if U'd just do a search.

Hope U can get her fixed up without a complete rebuild..

If not might as well fix her up righteous..
A complete rebuild and U can do all the big stuff now as it goes back together....BBkit, cams, welded crank. etc, etc,

Or a search of the forums for "Softail Oil Change" would have brought up a procedure that I posted not too long ago under this thread (which coincidentally was done on my 2001 Fat Boy):

Default cracked .

My 2 cents ... cracks usually appear at areas where stress is encountered such as bolt holes etc. From your description , this is what happened to you . Epoxy weld in a tube is easy to use and is great stuff but it WILL fail under a high stress load such as retourquing bolts back into the previousely cracked area.
My advise is to clean the cracked area completely and haul your bike to a reputable welding shop that is experienced in aluminum welding .
To save some bucks you should try to truck the bike to the welder in a attitude that makes it as easy as possible for him to access the area he needs to weld on . The welding process should take only a few minutes if all is accessible and therefore the cost should be minimal . This will give you a SOLID repair with little to no chance of a recurrance.
For your own piece of mind , do it right the first time .
PS., if you dont have a manual now , im sure you will be getting one soon !
