I just got a 05 Deuce that is 100% stock a few weeks ago. The mufflers had to go. I heard the Screaming Eagles and was not impressed.
Many said try the Short Shots, but it seems that is just a generic answer.
The 05 Deuce has the Cross-Over at the front of the slip ons & you really do not want to lose that feature due to the increased performance it gives.
After a month of research & advice, I went with the Cobra 6050s, which come with the excellent Cross-Over ($321. @ Dennis Kirk) see sponsor ad at top of page. They are 3 inch & 3.5 inch at the very end. Without the proper Cross-Over pipes (hard to find), you will be more than a foot short of your mounts, anyway. I listened to these Cobras on a softail & loved em + they have removable baffles to modify your sound.
With the Cross-Over included, these are easy plug & play. Removed all bolts & shields & soak the bolts & muffler joint with PB Blaster the day before, then use a chisel & 2lb hammer & wallop the muffler towards the rear to 'break the bond' at 9-12 & 6 o'clock. Once you 'break' it, only then can you turn & pull. Even with 17 year old bonds, I got em off in less than an hour with this method.
They also sell the near identical Cobra 6000s, which are just 3 inch with no flare to 3.5 inch at the ends (less bass), which seem more popular for some odd reason ($316. @ Dennis Kirk.com).
They sell em on Ebay, too, but everyone charges more on Ebay for exhaust parts. Even DK charges more on Ebay.
