I was parked at the dealer and asked why I didn't make a kit for the solo bag/plate mount.
I told the guy it wasn't tough to make one up. I even told him I used WARG's blog writeup as a starting point for mine. http://www.chasinwhitelines.blogspot.com/
i used a 1/16" sheet of stainless steel.. pain in the *** to cut through and grind, but quite solid when all the pieces were put together.. now i've gotta take the coupler nuts off my bike and do something about them to keep them from rusting/oxidizing/or not blending in..so i'll probably just blacken them out like i did with the steel plates.
never installed one so i know this is a dumb question but do you feed the straps through the slots so the buckles are inside or outside the bag? and what about all the extra strap? again i know its a stupid question but never having put one on i wasnt sure. thanks for any help. i bought the leatherworks 5 inch wide bag.
I installed with the buckles on the inside of the bag and cranked down on it, found it was loose after a week, not because of the buckle but the leather stretched a bit with the vibration. Tightened it up again but this time I put black cable ties through, together with the straps. Hasn't moved or loosened in a year. You have to use the black ones though, they are more durable and they make the bike EVEN faster...lol
