Oh I should add that I saw WARG for the first time about a month ago and his swingarm bag looked brand new while mine had lost it's shape. That was the reason that I took mine off and remounted it using a plate. I did get it back into pretty good shape by soaking it until it became flexible, stuffing it with dry towels, and then letting it dry with the towels inside.

First the diamond plate they are using is aluminum..not steel...I have cut a lot of diamond plate up to 1/4" thick...with a skill saw...carbide blade cuts it like butter...just have to go slower than when cutting wood. Word of caution if you use this method ...the pieces that are cut are HOT!!!! Face shield or goggles are a must...safety glasses alone are not enough.

Good deal, thanks for the tip. If I go this route, it will be with aluminum.

And yeah, cutting metal can get real fun, real quick without the right gear!

Could you use plain sheet aluminum instead of diamond plate? I can get that in a smaller size piece than I can buy the diamond plate. I see both at Lowes here.

I threw out the fastening straps. Wrapped some black electrical tape around the swing arm and used 2 zip ties for each hole. No problem so far. I'll be sure to change out the zip ties every year......only takes 5 minutes.

Yeah the diamond plate was too expensive at Lowes so I just bought a piece of 12x18 16ga weld steel.

I also used the plate system but I substituted smoke tinted plexiglass 3/16 thick for aluminum diamond plate works great
