switch housings - extra part

OK, I was putting on my new grips and a small clip fell out of the right switch housing. It is a folded over piece of copper which is about 3/8 by 1/4 inch. can't seem to see where it belongs. Anyone know?

it goes between the brake light switch and the housing, it just slides in between.

Hey, thanks.

I take it that it goes to the outboard side. Meaning the side that is toward the end of the handlebar.

that's right, it slides in between the switch and the housing.
kind of like a spring, to keep the switch in place.

It could also be the retainer spring for the throttle lock screw. Mine came out real easy when I was doing the same thing. Just something else to look for.
