Default Bar change question

I bought a set of street slammers to install on my 06 Train. I have read all the threads I could find and watched videos to make sure I don't screw something up. I saw a couple people that said something about putting a washer/spacer in the brake lever to keep from breaking the brake light switch but cant find any details. Can anybody enlighten me as to what exactly has to be done and does this apply to my bike?

Check out your shop manual. It probably says something like "without first positioning a 5/32-inch (4mm) thick insert between the brake lever and lever bracket."

Well a shop manual is one of those things that been on my to get list

I figured it out and got the bars installed last night. It made sense once I got it apart and saw where the brake switch was. I had just never had the controls apart before.

Look up up the part on HD web site and there will be an instruction sheet for your application. That's a short cut until you get a SM.

They say to stick that little piece of wood or cardboard in there.. i managed to do it without having to do anything and didn't break the switch.. so if you got it done, good on you..and if not, just be careful and you'll be fine.
