Does anybody know what bags I can use on a 2012 fatboy. I had a 2010 fatbob that I traded in new years eve. I had the bike delivered to where I am storing it and I havent been back. I changed the pipes out to vance and hines shortshots so I know I shouldn't have to go with the short bags. I think I would like to go with a set of hard bags. Basically I am looking for something I could lock, make quick detach and fit my 17" laptop in.
Since you have the short shots on there, you could go with our LP4000 series bags. Here is a pic of them on a Fat Boy.
This is an old picture before we had the locks built into the lids.
I can fit my laptop into the LP4000 series with room to spare, but I'm not sure if a 17" will fit. If you give me the exact measurements of yours, I will check. The newer style bags lock by sticking a key into the lid lock, and turning. The picture below is of the smaller size bag that fits with stock pipes, but you can see the lid lock in-between the staps on the lid. These bags have our detachable system already built in and are plastic reinforced throughout so they won't sag. They are basically like hard bags that are covered with thick leather.
If you're handy most things will get you close if you can rig something the rest of the way. Others have been successful with hard bags on a Softails. Dr. V-Twin is one that comes to mind. Turned out real nice from what I remember. Not sure the year but definitely not 2012.
Thanks for the response. My laptop is 12.5 x 16.25. I'll check out the bags on the website now.
Sorry, but that size laptop won't fit in our LP4000 series. The limiting factor is the top opening. To get a bag big enough to fit that laptop, you will probably have to relocate the turn signals.
