I would like some advice on altering my 2000 heritage softail. I'm 5'6" and 200 pounds I'm riding solo now so I thought about putting on a lowering kit, a solo sit , and removing the saddlebags or converting them to detachable.
Last but not least switching handlebars as its an uncomfortable ride with the stock bars as I'm always stretched out.Not interested in Ape hangers.
I put V&H Long shots and a 145 rear tire on last year.
So the questions posed are
1. Would you lower the bike and by how much? Front and back?
2. What brand of solo seat?
3. Can you convert stock saddlebags to detachable and how?
4. Which handlebars would you recommend?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have a corbin seat sits about an inch lower and cumfy. Ghost brackets for the bags thats what i used. cant help on bars like my shorter apes. I have pics of mine in my garage check out the stainless steel supports for ghost brackets
For the best adjustable ride... Shotgun Shock hands down.. I run a 21" wheel on mine so I lowered the front 2".. My solo seat I run now is a stock springer seat.. I tried the Corbin, mustang, and LePera and all made my butt sore after 100 miles. But the stock springer seat is as best comfort as I found but every person has different pressure points so you have to find that yourself.. Bars are another thing you need to find the comfort level in.. I run apes but building a set of beach bars now..

1. Yes! Lowering blocks in the rear. 2 inch in the front. If you can afford it shotguns...
2. Le pera barebones
3. Dunno
4. Beach bars
Check out this thread as a possibility for new bars. For seats, check out C&C. I also like the "Buttcrack" by Danny Grey. I wouldn't lower it, but if you do...do it right. Less cost is not always a better choice...
