I've looked through the "softail bagger" thread, and every bike I saw either had converted to dual pipes, short style pipes, or the picture was the wrong side of the bike to see the stock pipes.
I recently put the rush slip-on on my Heritage softail and really like the way they sound. I do a lot of big road trips and am interested in the space and security that hard bags would provide. My question is, will they fit with stock pipes (or at least stock pipe location) or do I have to change pipes to make hard bags work? I have to save my pennies, so this won't be happening in the immediate future, but if new pipes are in order, it would be good to know what else I have to save for.
I installed a set on my Heritage however as you mentioned I had already installed true duals. That being said I installed a set of hard bags on my wifes Deluxe. I have Vance and Hines long shots on it now and you can see the clearance, 1.5.
