So, i bought some brackets and hard bags off of ebay. I thought I'd be okay with stock pipes. Wrong! So what kind of pipes sit below the axle that aren't too loud! Suppose slip ons are out.
You'll need headers to adjust the angle of the dangle that much. A nice dual side conversion like the touring systems is what you really need to be low enough. One pipe each side.
I think the '05 Springer Classic had dual side exhaust. Might fit.

I have v&h big radius pipes, they are shorter than the stock pipes and angle down below the bags. I think you can use most of the aftermarket pipes. There are few that don't go below the rear axle. A v&h 2-1 would be the way I would have gone if my bike would have been stock when I got it. The big radius's were already on my bike when I got it, and they worked when I went to hard bags.

Search the forums. There are folks doing it with the stock exhaust. A 2 into 1 looks totally out of place on a Heritage.
