Default Throw over bags help

I recently bought a set of throwover bags for my crossbones. The bags are soft, but have a hard plastic backing with some leather ties to secure it.

Problem is, I don't know what I should tie off to on the bike.

Also, I don't know if I should have some sort of brackets on the bike so that that hard plastic doesn't scrape against the bike and scratch it. If so, anyone have any recommendations for a bracket that is low profile but would work well? I don't usually ride with the bags on so I'm trying to keep it minimal.

Last question- should I have anything inbetween the fender and the leather bag so that it doesn't scratch my fender? If so, what?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You should get some "U" shaped brackets that would bolt to the struts. It will keep the bags from hitting the tire/fender and give you something to tie the bags to

Something like this... Whoever or wherever you got the bags should have something

I also have a set of throw overs. there are some brackets that are made to keep the bag from scratching the paint. Take a look at my bike. Those are the brackets by the rear wheel. You can tie the bag off to them as well.

I have a detachable rack and some sports bike throw overs which I only use when I go to rallies the rack is more than enough support for the bags

Thats what I have on my bike, you might want to put something under the bags and over the fender to protect your paint. Some type of plastic like color forms that you can easily pull off, I didn't and have rub marks. If you get caught in the rain or wash your bike pull the bags off and clean under all of it and wax it.

Is there a D ring on the back of the bag,s? Many years ago we would just tie that off to the shocks and make sure it did not hit the tire or get burnt from the exhaust..Or you can find some brackets..

Any other ideas for anything I can put under the bags to protect the fender?

Throw over bags IMO is the worst bags to buy.
They not only mess up the paint on the rear fender, U have to worry bout rubbing the down side.

Its the cheap way to go, But U only get what U pay for....Cheap..
