I'm 65 years old and have rode several makes and models of bikes over the last 50 years, but they've mostly been touring bikes for the last 20 or so years. It got to a point where the bigger / heavier bikes got to be too much for me to handle just with moving around the garage. For me the Heritage is a nice combo between a bar hopper and a hi-way cruiser and I love the smooth idle of the B engine. If it gets to the point I can't handle the Heritage then it'll be time to switch to 3 wheels.

I love my '09 Heritage. It gives me a little bit of everything. It stores what it needs to. It's great on long trips. It looks old and classic, yet is also modern at the same time. It's comfortable solo and 2-up. I've done trips of all lengths with it and it's been great for everything I need. It even seems to stand out to people who don't know anything about motorcycles.

My first time on a Heritage was on our honeymoon, when I wanted to rent a bike and all Eaglerider had left was a 2006 Heritage. I don't think it was my 1st choice going into it, but we decided to take it. Man! It rode so good, and I was hooked. Loved the windshields, bags, extra driving lights, floor boards, and just how everything felt in stock form.

At the time I was only 21 and had no idea how much one cost, so I went to the dealer a few days later and was sad because I knew it would be a while til I could afford one. I ended up getting a Honda Shadow for a while to hold me over til I could get my Heritage.

Well fast forward a few years... I ended up getting my 08 Heritage for my 25th birthday in 09. I wanted a bike that could tour, but wasn't in the touring family. Non-HD people always compliment it and think it is older than it is due to the styling. HD people a lot of times say they can't do the "stud thing;" I personally like it.

I also liked it because I knew I wasn't going to have to change a million things before I would like it. I really like the stock styling and have only changed a couple things (smoked lenses and seat). Other than that, I've just been planning trips to take on it.

Aflac,,, Ur right about the Studs and leather. My son don't really like it, he does like the over all flow. He just keeps telling don't overdo it.....Ha

I bought a Whole ELK skin last summer and did all the fringe Myself. I added it to the the floorboards, seat, clutch/brake levers (made these out of deer shin), mud flap and this fall I did the bag lids.

I had it on the grips but a friend almost gave me ($5 bucks) for new leather covers for the grips with the fringe already on them. They do make them bigger, Not sure I like them yet. Haven't rode with them on.

Any way I used to do a lot of Black Powder shooting and I like to do leather work, thats why I choose to try my luck at making the Fringe. Really its easy, just takes time to make the patterns and cut it. Then finding the right glue that don't soften when wet.

Like so many have already said in various ways, what is not to love about the Heritage?
Love the way it fits, feels, rides, looks... Love the adaptability. In stock form it was great and it only gets better with mods. Went into the dealership to look at a used fatboy... never got passed my new Heritage Classic, never even saw the fatboy. Mine is a 2010. Still modding it a little at a time, but I have loved it from first sight.
