Hey Jim, On a previous metric bike, I had V&H Cruzers on and I installed a quiet baffle kit which was merely a fiberglass wrap around the baffle. Really didn't make a significant difference. Now I have the BSS on my FB and might consider the quiet baffles for them. So would I be getting the actual baffle itself and not some type of wrap that goes around the V&H stock baffle? Have a link?
j2dawson... I understood what you meant. I just want to put it in perspective. I think 3dB is an audible difference. And your right about the relitive distance when measuring. When I was a (music) sound tech many moons ago, the high schools required us to keep the volume below 95dB but offen they would measure from the center of the room. In playback audio the industry standard is measured a 3 meters, we were usually at 115dB @ 3 meters..

The post below yours by PhantomMaxx shows the quiet baffles that I installed. You replace the stock ones, which look totally different.
Hmmmm. I wonder what the quite baffles without the fiberglass wrap would sound like? I took my quite baffles out of my BSS's and put the stock baffles in. The fiberglass wrap was pretty worn out. I have seen in jpcycles.com that youcan get just the wrap itself for the quite baffles. http://www.jpcycles.com/ProductDetai...270&cs=All
Also noticed that the stock baffles look different than the quite baffles like j2dawson mentioned. Thinking the slot/hole placement may change the sound a bit.
I just put Khrome Werks, drag pipe baffles, in my Samson, Rip Saws. The baffles are 9" long and have no fiberglass. My exhaust is still louder than most and has an excellent sound tone. The baffles knocked down the sound level just enough, IMO, to make it acceptable.
Before I added the baffles the exhaust was extremely loud.
