Default Putting on apes and found problems

Well, I started to strip down my tain so I can put my new apes on it. When I got to the wiring, I got a little pissed. Found out the shop who installed the last set of bars chopped up the wiring pretty bad. One clip had only two wires in it the rest were spliced together. The other clip was complete but there was such a gaggle of wires and half @$$ed fasteners I couldn't pull the them through the bars without cutting.

My questions are, Should I buy a new clip and repin the wires? Als is it necessary to have shrink tubing around the wire bundle tat goes through the bars? thanks for the help!

Sorry to hear about the bad experience, gotta love crappy hack jobs. If it were me for the ease of removal, I would buy new clips/pins. I would also put shrink tubing around the wires in the bars for some added protection.

Just went through this. Taught myself to solder, bought Namz extension kit for the length I needed. Extended all 14. The Namz kit has the pins attached so get two new plugs and go for it. Solder, individually shrink tube each one then shrink tube the whole lot. Take your time and enjoy doing it yourself.
I couldnt take it any longer, every time I hopped on my bike I stared at the electrical tape job out the bottom of my bars. I feel much better now that they are done properly. All I was going to do was relocate my coil and while I was at it I did my control cables too.

You could be like me and rip off the plastic around the wires in the middle of the bars between two 90 degree bends... Total headache.
