Love the look of the Combo Analog sped/tach (70900070), just wish HD would come up with a model that would apply to the 2006 Softail!!! Anyone have any luck installing on an '06 model?

Question for those with the new Combination Analog Speedometer/Tachometer # 70900070. Does it have a light sensor that turns off the display when in sunlight? I cannot see any illumination from the speedo when riding in daylight but when I ride into the shaded garage it lights up and I don't think it's just that its darker in there. It seems to be switched on in dim light and off in bright light.. Is this how its suppose to operate? Thanks....
I have the same gauge (70900070) installed on my Road King. It does turn off all lighting when in daylight. When shaded by both hands, the lights (pointers, backlighting, etc.) all come on within about 2 seconds. A bit disconcerting when driving into a dim tunnel.
I have not been able to see the location of the light sensor, but it must be on the gauge face somewhere.
I put one of these on my wifes 2009 heritage and every now and then the speedo does nothing, no lights, no tach, nothing, if she turns it all the way off, and re-starts the bike so far it has always come back to life, I have checked all connections and have run into dead end at local dealer, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2006 Softail too and according to the catalog, this one works.
I just purchased from PATRIOT H-D in Fairfax, Va., the 70900072 which is described as being a plug-in replacement on the 06 Deluxe. I went to another dealer and the tech there said it will not work. It does NOT work, will not transfere the data as it stops at %90, and will display "VIN ERR" The dealer I purchased it from will NOT refund money, will NOT give a credit, and will NOT give exchange on electrical items. They say I F#$Ked it up. Other techs say it will not work on a 2006. After I looked closely on the box it was shipped in I found stated on the box that it fits "08 - 10 Softail". Harley Davidson web site states it in fact works on a 2006.
Regardless . . . . . I got screwed by H-D again !

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE !!!!
TAKE NOTES ! I talked with a very knowledgeable female parts clerk at Ray Price HD in Raleigh, NC. Upon describing the problem I was having with installing the 70900072 Speedo/Tach on an 06 Deluxe, She agreed the the unit not work and in fact there is another part number that will work on 04 through 10 Softail. It will display MP/H only, NOT KM/H.
The following part number installs, downloads data, and works as described on 04-10 Deluxe and some other models.
