Default help me decide what shocks please!!

70% i ride single, but hard, ,, but when I ride 2up its loaded heavy,,, about 450 lbs heavy.. so I'm only looking at the hd ( heavy duty) series of shocks

and extremely hole filled, bumpy roads around here,, so bottoming out is common,

I put my lowering studs on yesterday but 1 shock is leaking badly, so time to upgrade.. I'm looking at the progressive ,, 422 HD ,, the 422 HD with new rap option ,, and the airmail without fancy compressor.... if anybody has some real world 2 UP heavy people riding experience,, can you give me your vote...

I'm thinking the new for 2012 rap (remote adjustable preload)option shocks would be best ,, since I can change preload on the fly... just set it high, then kick it down with the remote when riding single,,, my stock shocks preload have been at their highest setting for a year due to the heavy load.. it rides rough, but I'm used to it...

thanks guys!! 60 degree weather is coming thank god!! my bikes been lonely all winter....

I dont have any personal experience but I have many friends that have the shotgun shocks and they absolutly rave about them. Having the ability to adjust height and rebound on the fly is pretty awesome. Dont know what your budget is but these are are on the list for me.

The 422s won't change the ride height (when adjusting the preLoad), but make it stiffer so it doesn't bottom out (but you said you were used to that). Your choice seems to be how much cash you want to spend:
$400 for 422s (jack the bike up to set preload when needed)
$5/600 for 422 with the remote preloader
$1,500 for the best option - Shotgun shocks.

Yeah shotguns are sweet. But to much money. I'll prob get the remote 422s. I just didn't know how the air tail would be. I don't mind pumping a bit of air in to ride 2 up. Idk. Sucks. Didn't want to start off the riding season this way.

I have the Progressive 422 HD's (Without Remote) on my Fatboy. Great Shocks! If I were purchasing a new set I would get the Remote Adjusters.

I just went for my first decent ride on my new 422's (lowered probably like 1.5-1.8"), with RaceTech Gold Valve Emulators in the front.. what a difference.. she holds every turn so much tighter now and the ride feels so much nice.. though I may have to work on adjusting the preload a bit and start tweaking it

I looked at those 422's with remote but i still don't get how adjusting the preload on one shock doesn't put more stress on it instead of distributing it evenly over both.

Ok I have not done any suspension mods and am very frugle. Dont want air ride and dont want to lower it. So that said it looks like the 422's would be a good choice but what to do on the front. I have switched to SE heavy and that did wonders but what can you do to the front that improves ride without lowering it?

Ricor Intimidators or RaceTech Gold Valve Emulators.. idk how they work, something about slowing the way the oil pumps through the fork.. they're dampening systems.. i like my RaceTechs thus far, but have only done 2 rides on them really.. just feels better in the corners all around
