I've also thought about installing the wrap, but then putting the shields back on to cover up the wrap. i was advised against reinstalling the shields but i can't remember why now. something about the air gap if i'm not mistaken.
Skeez, i think a narrow width wrap would work better for a 2-1 pipe and going around the o2 ports.
Ive thought about that but sort of prefer the look of the wider wrap. I'm sure there is a method that will work either way. I just need to look into it more.

First your heat shields "fall off" and then your headers crack? Maybe you just had bad pipes. How on earth does someone's heat shields just fall off?

I ordered the 2"wide DEI wrap kit from summit. Came with two rolls of wrap, clamps, and the special silicone paint. Soaked the wrap before wrapping my pipes and took my time getting the overlap right. my bike has no o2 sensors, but i did avoid the sensor ports on the pipes and it came out great! I'm not sure exactly how to do a 2-1 pipe, but look up how guys wrap car headers that should help.

I wrapped my fatcat and I know what your saying about going around the bungs. I used 2 small pieces of wrap to go around them in an x, then when I wrapped the pipes I didn't have to be too picky I could wrap uniformly and still get good coverage and pattern the whole pipe. Look at my album for a close up. I wrapped each pipe individually then used a strip to tie both together do it looked pleasing ascetically. It took a while but I am a perfectionist and got it right in the end.
