Default 2012 Deluxe Wheel & Samson Install Questions

So we get the Shotgun, which is boss hog, and Samson's installed last night. Got the rear wheel mounted without a hitch and then get to the front wheel...

Wheel Question:

Using the stock spacers the wheel goes on fine but once you tighten down the caliper, it goes to crap. When tightened down the caliper is "pulling" the wheel to it creating drag which creates a headache.

Comparing the stock wheel to the DNA Mammoth, the stock wheel bearing on the right side is recessed in the hub. The bearing on the DNA is flush with the hub.

Would it be possible to pull the bearings and axle sleeve out of the stock wheel and put them in the DNA? If not, what would the best option be?

Edit* - After some research it looks like getting a custom spacer will be the best option.

Samson Question:

Is the shift linkage supposed to "sway"? The best way I can think to explain it is that it sways like a hammock. Where the shift linkage bends upwards, the actual bend is resting on the inner primary. Moving the shifter with my hand, it shifts freely but it doesn't seem right.

Simple shot at the beginning of the night with the wheels mocked up.

Shift linkage is correct .Mine does the same thing.

As far as the wheel goes. A member had a very recent post (within the past few days)with his front DNA wheel. I cant remember who it was or under what thread. If I remember correctly, I don't think his bearings were seated correctly or pressed all the way in.

We checked for bearing seating last night actually. There's no gap between the bearings and the axle sleeve. My mechanic took a micrometer back to the shop on his lunch break and took some measurements on the stock wheel.

He measured from length between the recessed bearing and edge of the hub. He's going to machine down the spacer based off of this measurement and hopefully that'll get us there.

You may even try calling DNA, it seems they may have an issue with either the bearing sizes or seating them for the newer model bikes. In theory you should be able to mount up directly using stock spacers. I've read a few of these type post around some forums and I'm thinking DNA may need to tweak their process for newer model bikes so you guys don't have to machine spacers down.

But then I guess we can lay some blame on HD for continually changing things up to try and force folks to buy their custom wheels. I wouldn't want to be a manufacturer trying to keep up with HD's changes but then again I guess that's what pay aftermarket vendors big money to have folks on staff to stay on top of the ever changing tweaks HD pulls out of the hat.

They might have the wrong size bearings in. My Indy said mine did. The 2007 and up bearings are more narrow. He just put the right bearing in and it was fine

Don't forget to put your rear rotor on.
