I am getting ready for my first homage to Sturgis this summer. I currently have the stock drag bars that came with my '06 Night Train. After about 2 hrs of riding my arms are numb and shoulders are throbbing. Time to upgrade to something better.
With the 7" pull back and staight edge look I really like Carlini's Evil Apes. I think they will prevent me from having to lean over for hours at a time which should help me make the 4 day trek and give a nice look.
Question is, at 5' 10" should I get the 10" or go with 14"? What do you guys think?

I would say the 14" bro. I think they will put you where you want to be. I went with the 16" Chubbies, and having sat on a bike that has 16" chubblies they put them about shoulder level and I'm 5'10"...so the 14's will be about 15 1/2" high, and I'd put them on 1.5" risers....
2007 Nighttrain with 16" king apes with 1.5 in risers. I am 5'11" and puts them about shoulder level (a tad below). Best upgrade I did. Drag bars killed my neck and shoulders. Remember the height of the Carlini apes are to the peak it looks like the actual grip height is and inch or so lower. I mocked up a real basic set with cardboard to give me an idea of how high they would be. Sounds cheesy but when dropping money you want to get exactly what you want. You don't want to be saying two months down the road I should of went bigger or smaller. Good luck!
Im 5"11 I got the factory mini apes(12" i think) on my bones and with my bare bones seat the are plenty high for me feel great, prolly shoulder height....but if i simply put on the Sundowner 2-up seat i got, it will raise me up above the bars to the point i dont like it, prolly would need 16's with that seat.
All that to say that seats can play a big part it the picking of the height of apes. Or if you change seats could mess ya up too

10" Todd's cycle chubbies with 1.5" risers on mine. So far, love them. Fitment really depends on how you plan on positioning them. Bars will look and feel taller if positioned vertically as opposed to following the angle of the forks. With mine pushed forward, they're about shoulder height, maybe slightly lower. I'm 5'-9".
I'm running the 16" evil apes and sitting on a brawler, I'm 5'9" and this is where you want to be. Slightly above the shoulders and you can lean back and enjoy the ride finally.
