I feel like an idiot asking this question, but I bought a new smoked tail light lens, but can't see easily how to remove the Deuce taillight. I'm no stranger to wrenching on my own bikes, but I don't have a shop manual and can't find online how it's done. I don't want to break it or damage my fender and I can't tell if it pulls off the top of the fender, or if there are some hidden screws on the inside of the fender that I can't easily see. Making it more difficult is the fact that my bike is lowered 2".

i changed my a couple years ago. if i remimber correct, there is a hole under the fender between the license plate and the fender. you can release the spring catch by inserting a straight screw driver and giving a little push on it.

 

Thanks. Yup, that's exactly right. I did some looking when I got home from work and figured it out. It was so easy, I had the bulb/lens changed in less than two minutes. Just had to figure out how to release the lens from underneath. I had assumed that you had to unscrew it from below the fender, but it looks like the MoCo made it easy on us. Thanks again.

 

I know this is an old threat but does anybody know what the model number of the rear tail light bulb!? I need to replace it ... aftermarket maybe? like Sylvania or another company?, or do I have to get it from the Harley dealer?

 

Should be an 1157, available at any auto parts store.
