Ok fellas, I have a 93 Softail Custom and since I live in Washington DC i have some of the worst roads in america I bent the hell out of both my front and back rim on one of the biggest pot holes I have ever seen before. I have a couple of friends that said they would give me a rim that they have laying around the house to put on my bike since riding season is here. One of the bikes is a 07 Train and the other option is a 01 Train.
Now the question I have for everyone is If I go and buy a 1 inch axle (which fits the 07 rim) is there any way to change out my front axle to accommodate this rim?
Or is there anyway that I can just change the hub from my rim into the barrel of the 07 or 01 rim? Cause harley is talking about a good chunk of change for a set of rims. HELP HELP HELP Thanks guys
Yes, but you will need different spacers as you said. I would guess spacers from an 01 softail would do the trick as the Timken bearing wheels have wider spacers. Both bikes have a 3/4" axle.
The spacers for the 93 will be too long. I am not sure if machining down the original spacers or ordering the spacers for the newer bike is a better option for you.
I can just go over to the local dealership and pick up the spacers. Since i saw that you are a wheel dealer. How much would i be looking at for a spoke rear rim for my bike.
Tip:, watch craigslist, ebay and the classified ad's here on this sight. I got some stuff off of craigslist for pennies on the dollar and it was good stuff too. I got a slightly used gas tank, painted off of craigslist for 150.00 bucks, they run 1,500 new painted and the guy even threw in the fuel pump for free. This time of year guys are cleaning out thier garages. You can also post on craiglist, "such and such items wanted" too.
