Can someone that has changed their bars to apes please post the specs of the upper brake line for ABS for a 2011 softail with roughly 14" apes or similar? I ordered my cables with my bars from BR and they can't seem to get the right brake line for me. I've had my bars on waiting for the new cable for about 2 weeks now and I got the new one today but it's still has the wrong fittings and isn't long enough. On top of that, they sent me a chromite cable instead of black. I'd really like to see a pic as well as get the right specs.
Needless to say, I'm pissed at BR. Bill does great fab work and the bars look awesome but his customer service really sucks. All I want is the cable to finish putting the bike back together and be able to ride and enjoy this awesome weather.
I will post pics later. Drag Specialties is the "ONLY" company that makes a direct fit extended cable. I went through the same thing when I did my 2011 flstc. Trust me. It only comes in braided stainless.
Brutus, my indy got mine through Drag, who is an authorised MAGNUM cables dealer.... The fitting your looking for is the universal fitting...... I'll check the length......and they are black braided..

I just ordered mine from Barrett Tool, I first called Goodridge who actually makes them trying to figure out what I needed and they don't sell direct in wich was told to contact Barrett. I called them up told them +8" on all cables and lines and black. Was easy once I found out who to talk to and the only issue was the brake line fittings were gonna be chrome on the black line.
I should get them in about 2 weeks from what I was told and I'm praying they are correct fittings. Goodridge did have ABS listed in their parts catalog but you have to get both pieces, won't let you just purchase the upper piece.
Thanks for the responses guys. I've had about all of this BS I can stand. My cable better be overnighted and here tomorrow since I have the day off.
Youngneg,
I'd appreciate you checking on the length but after measuring again last night I think I need 38" to give the line enoough slack so as not to bind it. It would be nice to have this confirmed before I call BR today. Thanks for the info on the fitting. BR kept sending me a 90* bend for the bottom fitting but it is bent 90* in the opposite direction as the OEM cable so it won't work.
I have the Magnum Cables for my 16" bars and a set of HD 18" or order which is still till date on hold due to the lower cable issue Anyway I am all done now and have new 16" Apes on with the cables.

I finally think I have it figured out. After lots of communication with Bill at BR and some pics, we are on the same page. I will take and post some pics when I get my cable so everyone will know exactly what they need and hopefully not have the problems I did.
I ended up going with a 40" upper brake line. It may be a little too long but I will use the frame clip to use up a little extra slack if so. I was worried the 38" may push it a little too close but I think it would have fit. The fittings are 7/16" 35* banjo for the top at the MC and I think you can use either a straight(0* or 180*) 7/16" banjo with the universal fitting for the bottom. The universal fitting is a threaded female end (which I didn't know before) and you have to buy the banjo separately as it screws into the cable. Also, they are not technically certified as ABS cables if ordering from Magnum but they are correct.
Yes Brutus !!!....thats why they will not sell you an abs cable.....now put that thing together and get it off that jack and ride bro, shot us some pics, and be safe,
