Changing plans for Crossbones
What I am thinking now is this: LA jockey shift, BDL open primary, 107" kit, maybe a 21" front with no fender, and a rear fender swap. I still want to get it repainted in solid black denim and change to either '59 or '47 style tank emblems. The biggest reason for the repaint is so I can stripe the bike myself. Its almost embarassing when someone who knows I stripe sees my bike and inevitably asks if I striped it. The look I get when I say no its factory is killing me....lol. I have also been looking at that rake kit by vulcan, but the guy who posted about it hasn't been back on in a while and I wanted to hear a bit more feedback on it. As for the rear fender, I am unsure what I want to do with it. I like the looks of the shadetree set up, but I do have a 2010 fatboy rear fender that I could chop up. I have even considered running without strut covers and using just the actual struts so I could go even further with the cop of that fender. I guess looking back at these ramblings, there is no real question involved. More like me just killing time as I sit in this crappy country. Any feedback is welcome though!!! Happy Easter BTW
You have a lot of great ideas for your bike, but they seem to be going in different directions. My personal favorite would be to follow the '47 theme. Have you considered using that Fat Boy fender and finding a Heritage Springer front fender? I love the look of a stripped down springer (like a Zero Engineering bike) but those big fenders are a perfect canvas to show off your striping skills.

Hogpro- I only got to put 350 miles on The Road Glide while I was home, but I can make a pretty decent comparison because a lot of those were highway. First of all, I will say that last June, I made a trip to Colorado Springs from Phenix City, AL. It was 1500 miles there in three days, about 200 miles around the Springs for 4 days, and 1500 back again in three days. We kept all of the days to about 500 miles except on the way back. We did 600 the second day and finished with 400 to try to outrun some weather. I was actually a lot more cozy on the Crossbones than I expected. I will say that the Road Glide does exactly what its name implies. It hugs the road. The day I picked it up, I was honestly trying to take it easy because of the break in. I would vary speeds and not run up the RPMs too much. At one point, I realzed it was time to change the speed a bit. I looked down to see how fast I was going to see if I should speed up or slow down. I slowed down. I had no idea I was doing 90. The normal turbulance you get off big rigs doesn't happen. I had heard horror stories about this terrible swirl of buffeting that hits some guys in the face on the RG. The dealer had thrown in a 12" windsplitter shield. I didn't get anything I would deem uncomfortable. I did get some harsh wind coming up, but checking with my hands, I think that will be solved by the lowers I had on order. Even if I didn't get the lowers, it is definitely bearable. The stock seat is OK, but the most I did at once was 100 miles while I was home. I did send it off the MCC already for some memory foam for me and the wife. Only big complaint I had was the stock bars. I can see where they would cause some major pinching between the shoulders. In a few days, there should be a set of 14" Wild 1 Outlawz and all the cables at the house. The 103" is strong and the Dragula 2-1 by Drago's bike works along with the FM A/C and powervision woke it up considerably. I do plan to cam it soon after I get back. Probably the same TW 555s I have in the Crossbones now. I won't say it is a better bike than the Crossbones, but definitely different. Plus, being a musician (I play drums) it is nice to not have to wear earbuds if I want music. I bought this bike without doing a test ride, and did most of the deal over the phone from here overseas. I was honestly worried that there would be a chance I wouldn't like the way it handled or felt on the road because I had read some mixed opinions on it and some guys from the touring section have hated their RGs. I used to think they were the ugliest bike HD makes, until I saw it in black denim. Gladly, it looks great and rides better.....
