I had the cheese-grater baffles and they're damn near straight pipes. Loved the sound, but a bit punishing on longer rides. I put the quite baffles in a few weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased. Still loud and deep, but no longer sounds like a dragster when you fire it up. Neighbors are probably a bit happier too.

I have them in my duals, they're in there for close to 8 - 9,000 miles now I guess ... they have gotten a gradually louder with the packing burning off, but not obnoxiously so. Still sounding good as far as I am concerned.

Benway, did you retune? I had decel popping tuned out originally and don't want to open a can of worms.

I've had the "quiet baffles" for many years and like them. Not a lot quieter than the stock ones but they do smooth out the harshness.

Fiberglass lasted around 5-8k. I had them checked and the fiberglass was shot. Sound was a tad louder but not much. Packing is available at most Indy shops and on-line. I had them repacked once but that was the last time I'm doing it. Not worth the effort.

Interestingly enough, I had a ton of decel popping before I put the quiet baffles in (to the point of annoyance). Now, I have only a rare pop.

I've never had it tuned and the whole subject is confusing as hell to me anyway, so there we are... I'm not one to spend several hundred dollars to figure out I didn't need it in the first place (or not...)

Been reading in here for 5yrs and what U want is excatly what the Q baffles will do according to what I've read...

They lower the tone/note and noise is lowered 2-3 DB's.

But note that V&H's recommends that U re-pack the baffles every Yr.. Meaning the packing on the baffles will need re-done. IMO U can prob go 10k before needing it.

You can run them without the packing and it will still be quieter than the stock baffles are.

Im not sure why I had the problem but I ordered and put the quiet baffles in my true duals and did not like the sound I got when I throttled down. I took them out and put the standard baffles back in and the quiets have been sitting in my shop ever since. I thought of drilling a small hole thru the front and seeing what that might do but never got around to it.

i had the same problem but with a set of hardkrome pipes i put a pair of universal baffles wrapped with muffler packing wired around the baffle, then got a tip off a metric site, the solution cost practicaly zero, got a stainless plug hole out of a sink unit place over rear pipe and notice the difference in sound, then trim the edge round but leave some tabs on that can be bent place in pipes then replace end cap and apply some exhaust putty around the edge and enjoy, i couldn't upload pics so hope i have explained it clearly.
