Default Anyone Running V&H Quiet Baffles?

I'm thinking of replacing the standard baffles on my V&H Big Shots with quiet baffles. I'm looking to deepen the tone and lower the decibels a notch. I've heard them live and like what I hear, but wanted some feedback from those who have been running them for a while. Are you still happy with them? How long does the batting last? How frequently do you replace it -- and where do you source it from? Any advice would be appreciated.

I had them in my V&H Straightshots on my sportster. Gave the bike a better TQ curve but a little less HP. Made it a little quieter but not alot and still got loud if you romped on the bike. Overall I was quite pleased. I might try them on my Fatboy with the Big shots someday.

I had the BSS on for quite a few years, and bought the quiet baffles when I got the pipes. I was glad I did - they sounded great and brought the volume down just enough.

I never replaced the fiberglass packing... never pulled the baffles to check on the condition, but never noticed a need to.

I had them in my shortshots and they were in for about 4k or so and then took them out and put in the BCT baffles. About 60-70% of the mat was burned off. One thing to do that makes them last longer is to wrap and tie tthe wrapping and it should last longer. I have heard from others that it lasts about a year and not sure how many miles they ride in a year, hope this helps you

I have the quiet baffles in my VH slip on mufflers on my Fat Boy. I'm having a hard time thinking about baffles right now though because of your avitar. Anyhow...

The mufflers came with the loud baffles. I rode the bike to work, and to be honest, I was kind of embarassed... it was obnoxiously loud. The quiet baffles are decent. I could actually use more volume, but I figured my bike would sound louder after cams and a decent tune. Everything on the bike is stock other than the mufflers.

Hope this helps.

Default Raw Sound !!

Rollin the Short Shots on the X-Bones w/Screamin Eagle 255 Cam, Talk about Deep & Raw Sound with Torque & Power !! >> Depending on the Sound your lookin for justifies your compression set-up in my opinion.

I've just never went the route with Pulling the Baffles for Sound although thats what most do ... It just sems to me You want Loud Pull the Baffles If you want Deep Sound Compression without Pulling Baffles & Wanting Raw-Deep Sound with Power to Boot >> Getta Cam !

BTW: I wish i new how to Change my Profile Name ? >>> I'd Change Bike Name from " Black Buffalo " To >>>> " PURE EVIL " LOL - - - This Sound is Mean !!

Not interested in cam changes, as there's enough power for me . . . but you're right, it does impact the sound significantly. Just looking to tone down the pitch for now.

Replaced stock pipes with V&H Pro Pipe. A fair amount louder than stock, wife said too loud for her, and in truth while it was sometimes nice to have a louder bike, sometimes it wasn't. Got a V&H quiet baffle from Dennis Kirk and installed it. Now it is almost as quiet as stock. The butt dyno says I might have lost a little power, but sometimes people think louder = more power, even when it really isn't. So I don't know if I have a performance hit or not. With the new pipe, ac, and tune, it is definitely more powerful than stock, as measured by some local hills, on ramps, and freeway passing experiences.

The quiet baffles will deepen the sound and is easier on the ears. I think they will do what you are looking to do
