Default Mustang saddle puts me too far back

I picked up a used Mustang Vintage Wide saddle with a backrest for my 06 Heritage. It's definitely comfortable and I love the backrest.

The problem is that the seat puts me about an inch farther back from stock and I'm definitely sitting higher.

Aside from the obvious solutions of new bars or taller risers (I've got 6" risers already) any tips or suggestions from anyone who may have had the same issue?

I called Mustang and they said they're made that way for the "bucketing" in the seat.

There's got to be some way of modifying the bracket on the rear of the seat

I put the Mustang on my Sporty and returned it after one day because of the same reasons you cited.

Smitty sell me the vintage cheap and buy the other one they make! The vintage moves you back, most mustangs move you forward so find the right one. They all raise you up unless you go with a Lepera (or that type) barebones. Teflon

I have the wide touring with backrest that pushes me forward, would like to go the other way. It's on a 09 crossbones, I'd be willing to swap if you want

So I checked out the brackets from the old stock seat and the new Mustang to see if there was any different - there is - the length of the stock seat bracket is just about one inch longer than the Mustang bracket. That would be just about right!

However, the stock bracket is wider than the mustang bracket so the screw holes don't line up on the new seat. I drilled a small hole into the bottom plate of the Mustang, but that's not going to do it without turning into a big and probably messed up project.

I'm going to take both seats and brackets to a welder and see if he can weld a piece of metal to the old bracket, then drill out some holes at the same width as the Mustang bracket.

I think that would do the trick!
