Default How to cut down a windshield?

My wife bought an HD Heritage Softail. The windshield is to tall for her to see over. I've heard of windshields being cut down. Does anyone know how to cut down the windshield?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Get some good masking tape and tape the upper half then presisly draw out the desired line then take a jig saw with a fine blade and cut away. File and sand edge to a rounded smooth edge then remove tape. Dont cut too much off. Better to cut too little and cut agian. Others might have a different take on this.

I cut off the bottom with a dremel tool on my Electra Glide twice. about 1" at a time I did it twice because you can always cut again but its real hard to add on. Just make a line 1" up from the bottom following all the curves. you have to freehand it a little bit.

Don't know who did this video but I found it to be pretty good for cutting down a shield.

Thumbs up

I always get the tallest windsheild when replacing and cut it to fit with this method. I do the masking tape deal; scribe my cut mark to the bottom of my nose.(have a buddy hold a level to get a good mark) Then use a router to cut the line. With a slight rollover bit in the router you get nice clean edges to start with. I use a laminant router cause it's smaller and faster.
