Hey guys, gonna be putting the Nacelle headlight on this week and figured now is a good time to swap out the bulb for something brighter. Whats a good option for a straight plug and play bulb replacement? I rarely ride at night so Im having a hard time justifying going with an LED, but I figured since im going to have everything apart, might as well upgrade the bulb.
PIAA makes a nice bright bulb. I'm personally running the Harley LED bulb in my bike and couldn't be happier. That thing makes it look like daytime. All my friends hate riding in front of me!! LOL
H4 bulb is what is in my bike stock ---2006 fatboy
I got my Silverstar Ultra at autozone for about $35.
The number on the package is maybe 9003/H4 or maybe 9004/H4 ---I don't remember the numbers before the H4 on the front of the package---the H4 was what I needed.
The local harley shop recommended me to install a silverstar ultra H4 when I went there looking for a better bulb than stock. I am completely satisfied with my headlight at nite now.

If i can remember correctly, my bulb in my Deuce is a H4. I have the Silverstar zXe in my truck and love them. They have a clear white look. The Ultra is the best Silverstar as far as visibility goes, letting you see 40% farther and 50% brighter with a 50% better side view (peripheral). The zXe is suppose to be the closest to HID's you can get with just a bulb replacement and are Xenon Fueled. The zXe is only sold in packs of 2 and I think the Ultra can be bought in single packs. I think I'm fixin to put the zXe in my Deuce.
If you just want a halogen bulb that is plug and play, the best thing out there in my experience is the Osram Nightbreaker. Just do a search for it on google or something. It's WAY brighter than anything else out there and your bike will handle it just fine. It makes a Silverstar look like a candle.
I had a Silverstar Ultra and heard about the Nightbreakers and tried it. It was like night and day. I've also used the ZXE mentioned above and the Nightbreakers are better and brighter than those too. The ZXE is a "whiter" light, but the Nightbreakers put out WAY more light.
The Osram Nightbreaker is 90 percent more light, where the Silverstar Ultra is 50 percent brighter than stock.
If you want the best of both worlds get an HID kit.
Here's a pic of the packaging on the Osram Nightbreaker:
