2011 and up are different to prior years. You don't want to do any cutting or splicing on any of the wiring because of the new CAN-bus system. It's best to use pre made harnesses with plugs on the ends to extend the wires. You have to be careful how they are routed because there is the slight possibility of electrical interference that would cause the computer to go crazy.

hmmmm...So getting pre-wired bars with the plugs already on them would be the way to go? Does Carlini do pre wired bars? I suppose if not I could just bring the bars into harley and have them wire them and put the plugs on...as I really want to do the install my self and save some $...

Not necessarily. It is possible to use your current switches and wiring because there are companies that sell premade extensions. I have checked around and the only company that I have been able to find and trust because of past good shopping experience with is Hill Country Custom Cycles that sells a ready to bolt on package. But there is about a $400.00 price difference between it and a setup for 2010 and under models. Which includes being charged a deductable until you send them your stock switches and housings.

Just installed apes on my 2012 Fatboy. It was very easy to run wires through the bars. Just but the premade extensions and plug them in. You will have to remove the tank though.
