Got a 2004 Heritage custom with a set of Vance & Hines big shot / long shot pipes. A bitt loud for me. I emailed Vance & Hines asking if they have other baffles to quiet it down. They replied with one baffle option that only quiet the pipes 2-3 decibels.
Has anyone tried to modify baffles To achieve custom sound level?
I have the V&H quiet baffles and have added the smartpartz one to it .. took it down about 10 db ... still reasonable loud but not obnoxiously so and a nice bark when you twist the throttle.
I just ordered DKCustoms Thunder Torque inserts for my Longshots. $18. Will let Y'all know the results. Similar to the lollipop mod mentioned elsewhere in the forum. Andrews 37 cams really made the exhaust sound harsh.
i re-wrapped my vance & hines quiet baffles with a thicker peace of ceramic silica insulation. It's rated to 1200 deg. Never needs to be replaced and really made them quiet, almost to quiet. It was hard to get them back in so use some clear tape to hold it close to baffles. I tried the smartpartz baffles but they were not for me." lost the deep thump sound " If you re-wrap the V&H quiet baffles with this stuff i think you would be happy. JMO. Only bad part is i hear the engine more. lol

Jaybull,
Where did you get the ceramic silica insulation?
How much is it?
Do you have any pictures of the process or of the baffle wrapped?
