Default Paint set fitment

I am wanting to go a different route with my 93 FXSTS, and I found a paint set I think I might go for, but I am having little luck getting a straight answer on fitment.

My question:

Are paint sets from the 84-99 softails interchangeable?

On your Springer, you'll have a hard time fitting a front fender of another non springer model. Tanks and rear fender are good to go.

Did they change something in 97? When researching the fenders I keep seeing 84-96 and 97-99???

I didn't think so as far as tins. But maybe throw this out in the EVO section.

The Springer front fenders fit 88-92 and 93 -up. Mid year 96 they changed the rear fender....they put an electrical box in it...if you use an 84 thru early 96 fender on a 97- up you have to cut a hole for it...not too hard, cover the area in blue painters tape, mark it and use a grinder with a cut off wheel...I have done several...it is completely covered by the seat, so if it is not perfect no one but you will know. If you go the other way... you need to cover the area with something to keep mud out of the battery area.

Great Information. I appreciate you taking the time to break it down for me like that. Now I know what to look for.
