I am shure this has been asked before, but I cannot find it. a few years ago, my dad did a hyd. cam change on his 02 RK. He bought a complete kit from Herko or something lile that. I have since found out that he is no longer doing this, so my question is where can i get a complete kit, such as the one my dad got! Not having done one befor, I just do not know of all the parts and gaskets that will be needed. I have looked at Andrews, and woods, but i am not sure how complete these kits are. i would like a kit to include everything but the cams, and that would be up to what ever ones you want! I hate to say but I have driven myself insane looking for a complete kit or a full list of parts. By the way my bike is a 04 Deuce.
Parts list from Andrews including N cams which are required for their kit. This kit uses the updated/newer inner cam chain which not all the other kits use.
You could just go with the screaming eagle kit. It will upgrade the cam case to 2012 standards with the hydo chain adjusters cam plate and the new high volume oil pump. Not sure what else your looking for if you want to do cams elsewhere?
I got the SE kit from American Classic Motors. Your choice of Andrews cams. This does not change the inner chain tho. (sucks) I didn't think to ask them if I could upgrade the inner chain as well. Pretty easy guys to work with, so you might give em a call or e-mail. All I "had" to get was the oil pump and oil passage o-rings from my local dealer. I also got Andrews pushrods from ACM. Just under $700 for the kit and under $120 for the p-rods. Another $10 for the p-rod o-rings. $5 for the oil o-rings. I got the bearing r&r tools from Heartland Products for $115 including the new inner bearings. I did not get the p-rod tubes for adjustable p-rods and wish I had. Got em now tho. Colony from BK Rider. $69.Thats about it. I did it about a month and a half ago. Took about 5 hours. Good luck!
Andrews has the complete roller chain conversion kit, then you add what cams you want. Their kit changes both cam chains to roller which wont wear on the tensioner pads...also I believe you can go with gear drive cams if you want that will eliminate the cam chains all together... The SE kit only changes the outer chain to a roller...
John is still selling the complete kit plus all the tools you need to do it plus all the tech help you need he just doesnt sell the herko kit its an Andrews kit and he has competitive pricing I just ordered everything from him 3 weeks ago. Make sure you contact him also before you make any decisions herko@insightbb.com
