Agreed, I had the same issue on my last bike. I used a small piece of emery cloth, wrapped around the bars, then clamped them, never moved again!

Funny, when I was a kid in the 60's, my bicycle apes would always do that.

I am surprised no one suggested using Gorilla Glue...after all they are apes...just joking

Sorry, I just couldn't resit...but IMO the sand paper trick is most likely to be the best alternative.

This is the one single issue keeping me from putting 14's on my Springer. I would assume that this issue is worse on a Springer because of the smaller caps holding the bars down.

It seems to be hit or miss, and not really too dependent on type of front end. A lot of Crossbones owners have had issues with it, but a lot of us haven't. I had my bars slip once, but it wasn't all at once, it was gradual. It was when I was riding back to AL from Colorado. We did a 500 mile day through part of texas and oklahoma. There were 25-30 mph cross winds. I had to fight to keep in a lane, so I know I had a death grip on the bars. I have actually used the bars to pull myself up going over big bumps and they never slipped

Drill through the riser cap and bar and pin them. Or drill, tap and use your own set screws.

Bill does aggressive knurling on his bars and the Carlini risers I have, come with hidden set screws.

Them bars ain't movin unless I want to reposition them.

Body Panel Epoxy, Apply a small amount to clamping areas... IMO drilling is a bad idea it will introduce a possible fracture point...

I have the same problem. Have Wild1 bars and risers with a HD top clamp. I hit RR tracks last weekend and the bars moved. Tried the piece of bicycle tube but they still moved. Next, gonna be some wet sand paper so it won't deteriorate when washing or riding in rain.
