Default Sissy bar question

Hey guys

Looking at getting a sissy bar for my crossbones and going through the HD parts catalogue there isn't much choice. A couple I like say something like "fits all '07 and later softails (except flstfb, flstsb & fxstse)" for example. Why would a sissy bar fit a softail standard but not a crossbones? They have the same rear guard & struts etc (I think), the only difference is the crossbones is black. Is it because it won't fit the aftermarket HD crossbones pillion seat?

Tire width. Crossbones, Fat Boy, Rocker, etc have 200mm rear tires. The sissy bar has to be wide enough to clear. The side plates are all the same.

The rear tire on '06 and later Softail Standard and Customs are also 200mm so that can't be it, but I sure as hell can't think of what it could be. Bolt spacing or turn signal location maybe.

Check out www.ginzchoppers.com he has some really nice sissy bars and lots of good pics. Mine should be on its way now. He is an awesome dude to talk to on the phone too. Check him out, might have what you need.

It doesn't require turn signal relocation, and the side plates fit all models so it can't be bolt spacing. The actual sissy bar is the part that apparently won't fit. As far as I'm concerned if the side plates fit, and the sissy bar fits a 200mm wide softail standard and fatboy, it should fit a crossbones damn it!

Well I have decided to custom build a set this time round for my Blackline. On my old Crossbones I custom built another set on the HD sissy bar and here is what I did:

The reason I want to custom build one this time is to avoid the HD look as in the brackets that sticks out when running the sissy bar alone with side bags and so forth.

Plus I want the flush look

I dont see why not it wont fit, if the kit is for a 200 rear as in a fatboy and so forth so it should fit. Relocation kits are something you can work around with no issues.

I have the One-Piece Detachable Tall Passenger Sissy Bar Upright (part number: 52729-08) on my crossbones. It did require me to relocate my directional signals though.

Instead of going through the HD parts catalogue, you might have more luck going through the HD website. Go to parts, then choose your year and model and click on backrests. Then all backrests that will fit the xbones will show up. Looking at it as I type this, and it looks like you have about 4 or 5 options.

I agree with everyone else that others should fit too seeing as how they have the same width tire and struts, but who knows.

I just bought the One-Piece sissybar (crossbones version) because I like the looks. It doesn't require turn signal relocation though. All you have to do is cut less than an inch of the part of the sissy bar that would rub against your turn signals. I used a dremel and it took about 5 minutes TOTAL and she fit perfectly.
