Default deluxe saddlebag problem

I bought the leather locking saddlebags made for the deluxe. My bike has V&H bigshot long pipes. The right bag has a bracket that's supposed to mount to the stock exhaust. Does anyone know of a solution to this? I've seen pictures with the same pipes and bags. There seems to be a short vertical bracket in one picture but I don't have a clue if it was bought or fabricated. My local dealer said the mechanics have a solution for this but couldn't tell me what it is and I've yet to stop buy and talk to them in person.

When I bought my deluxe the only bracket that was on the stock bags were the one formed in to them just the two bolts on the inside and that was it

I installed the V&H BSS's and ran into the same problem. I just took the lower brace off and was done with it. I have also taken the left hand one off. Haven't had any issues yet. I would imagine if you are not trying to carry anything very heavy you can do the same. It also makes it easy to take the bags off if and when needed for cleaning rear wheels or bar hopping slimmed down. I personally hate the little things and leave them off. When i do use them nothing really heavy goes in them. Just gloves, glasses, etc. Three bottles of wine in the right bag is about the heaviest I have had in them. No anvils. that would be bad.

Your not the first person who suggested that soop. I'll stop by the dealership and ask them what they would do? I've seen a right side bracket for these pipes, I just don't know where it came from. If I knew how i'd post a picture of it. I think i'd rather have the brackets to be safe.

My wife has the oem bags on her Deluxe. The bracket mounts to the stock muffler support bracket. Although as has already been said, you probably wouldn't have any problem without them, it appears that the bracket could be attached to the lower swingarm with a clamp of some sort.
