I ran sampson drag pipes on mine, was a really good sound, low tone for that rumble but still know you';re heard on the road...I tend to like going overboard though, so of course I pulled the baffles. Sampson pipes might be a good idea, and usually a little cheaper than V/H pipes.
If I were to change pipes, I'd go with Big Shots Long. As stated before, anything besides stock will sound and perform better. Also go with an intake system as opposed to pieces, plenty of those available, too. A simple tuner, like the DFI/Techclusion, Arlen Ness Cheapshot should be added or you will have annoying ride-ability problems. Up until this week, I ran a Cheapshot and was very happy. After cam change, needed more adjustabilty.
My 2 cents. Welcome and good luck!
I have a set of the Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered for sale in the Softail parts section. Might have 500 miles on them.
Straight tips and angled tips, easily interchangeable. Sound great, nice and throaty. I just decided to change up my style.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested. Aside from that, I shadow the other responses here. Lots of good pipes out there, just a matter of personal preference!
I appreciate all the great responses. I will do some research and I will let ya know what I decide. In the meantime...Any thoughts on other pipe dream mods? I like the classic look of the softail.
