In my case, I got the Heritage because it was the best deal (used) at the time, but I wasn't looking for a 'bagger'. I've stripped everything off, dumped the handlebars, lowered it and swapped out the tall/flat (but comfortable) Heritage seat with a Deluxe seat.

Buying new is a different story though. The stock Heritage is terribly tall and top heavy, so you might want to stay away from them.

I'm 5'7'' and my factory forward controls are too close, I'm looking into extenders. Don't worry about forward controls, you will be fine.

yeppers...diff wheels, diff bars, diff seat, diff lights and it been lowered but still same engine/drive train and frame with a higher price tag. I'm like you, buy used and upgrade til end product is what you wanted to start with.

Nope, they have floorboards. Which is about half way between mids and forwards.
