The "man up" statement was a generalization, not specifically directed at you.

Thanks for the compliment though! Can't wait to see those bars on the ride, let me know if you need any help with anything, except safety switches. Lol.

Anyone that relies on a bunch of fail safe devices to cover their stupidity shouldn't be ridding a motorcycle. If you continue to take off with your stand down, then give it up dude because your never going to get it.

if your worried about riding a bike without a neutral or side stand switch sell your bike and get one that has them. The way I look at it is the less **** on a bike the less **** to go wrong.

I'll admit i've left my kisckstand down a few times.. the first time i did it, i was like WTF IS THAT ?? oh.. dumbass.. lol..2nd time i did it, i said ****.. dumbass.. all i ever heard was a scraping sound.. it never occured to me it was really a safety issue.. i guess if you were in a hard left hander far enough to lock the stand in, you could do some serious damage. i would think it would break the stand or bend the hell out of the bracket. could it actually flip you ?

A lot of people would be better off with an 1/8" pipe plug instead of the oil pressure sending unit. They put way to much stock in oil pressure on a Harley. I have never had a low fuel light, and I don't think I need one. I do have reserve. Speedometers are pretty much needed in this day and age.

Have never drove off with my kick stand down,, you might be able to have someone build a safety kickstand for ya tho if you are worried if might happen again..

I read the following below "somewhere"just today. Bad idea riding with the jiffy stand down. Anyway, check your jiffy stand spring occasionally and maybe carry some zip ties if the spring comes off while riding and the stand is dangling. FWIW

"Don't know if this is the right forum for this but I need to rant somewhere. I've been enjoying the chit out of my R+R 131, the more miles the more it's loosening up and it was running impeccably, UNTIL. Crash
The spring holding up my kickstand up came disconnected and on my last left hand bend in the road, only 100yds from home the kickstand hooked up
Long story short the bike landed upsidedown like when a kid is changing bicycle tires and I got off pretty easy with a broken shoulder and thumb. Not bad considering I wasn't wearing my helmet. Thank god for crasbars, looks like mostly cosmetic damage aslong as my frame isn't tweaked which is hard to tell at this point. Motor, pipes came out of it fine, even my apes look straight they just will need to be re powdercoated.
I just had to get out my frustration with some. Ranting. I'm already thinking that if I need a new frame I might as well raise the backbone a bit to let me go a little bigger on the motor, maybe go a little more rake as well. Might as well make lemonade out of my lemons. I gotta get my softail rewired and running as it'll be a while b4 the bagger rises from the dead.
THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!"

If the jiffy stand sensor is on the bike and working it would tell you if it came loose during riding it. So if the spring was weak you would know it as well.
