Default Open Primaries

I am wondering what ya'lls opinions and experiences with open primary drives are. I am wondering if there is a lot more maintenance that goes with having an open primary. I am guessing if you lay a bike down with an open primary you pretty much have to replace the whole thing. What are your thoughts?

Look great. Add quite a bit of noise.

That's performance machines open primary kit, 2800$, I think Dr. Vtwin can get you into a BDL open primary for about half that, and they still look good. Besting the appearance of that contrast cut PM unit is almost impossible to beat, I wonder if a guy can just buy their gaurd! Kowan, do you have any info on that bike? I like the rigid style fender on the softail frame and their frame cover that hides all the wiring. I am planning on bobbing out a blackline and I like what I see there.

I have the BDL SS-2 on my chopper. It is a bit noisier but not bothersome. Never had any trouble with it, but the clutch pull is quite a bit heavier and has a narrower friction zone than the clutch on my Night Train.

Wide Open is that plate between the two pullies just for looks, or does it serve a function? It sure is a good looking drive system. Is it a 3 inch belt?

Highdrum where did you get the bat wing for the fatboy low? I have never seen one of those before. It really makes me like the look of the front end a lot better.
